USC Trojans offensive tackle Matt Kalil is one of the very top prospects in the 2012 NFL Draft. The analysts and evaluators seem to fall into one of two camps where Kalil is concerned: those that think the Trojans player will be drafted No. 2 overall by the St. Louis Rams and those that think he will be selected as the No. 3 overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings.
In their latest mock draft, ProFootballWeekly.com falls into the latter camp of analysts. Nolan Nawrocki predicts that Kalil will go to the Vikings. Here is his take.
After Bryant McKinnie was sent packing, Charlie Johnson stepped into the starting lineup and servicably got through the season, but the chance to land a premium left tackle does not come along often, and Kalil can protect blind side for years to come - a safe way for GM Rick Spielman to protect his investment in the team's quarterback of the future.
As it appears more likely that the Rams may trade their No. 2 selection to a team trying to ensure they will get Baylor Bears quarterback Robert Griffin III, the Kalil-to-Vikings camp seems to be growing.
