The second week of the college football season brought us the first-ever Pac-12 conference game, as the USC Trojans beat the Utah Utes in Los Angeles. However, two conference teams played one another earlier in the day, as the California Golden Bears beat the Colorado Buffaloes in overtime in Boulder, but that game didn't count as a Pac-12 game because it was previously scheduled as a home-and-home.
Here is a recap of the later Saturday Pac-12 games:
Cal 36, Colorado 33 (OT): Down 33-30 in overtime, the Bears converted a first-and-30, then Keenan Allen caught a beautiful fade pattern throw from Zach Maynard to beat the Buffaloes. It was the second non-conference road win of the day for the conference, along with Stanford's drubbing of Duke.
USC 23, Utah 14: The Trojans committed three turnovers, but their defense held, including blocking a potential game-tying field goal in the final seconds for the second straight nail-biting win for USC.
Washington State 59, UNLV 7: The Cougars rolled up 610 yards of total offense for their second straight home win.
UCLA 27, San Jose State 17: The Bruins got a scare, as they were tied with the Spartans in the fourth quarter, but in the end UCLA pulled away for their first win of the year.
Week 2 Pac-12 non-conference record: 7-3 (5-1 at home, 2-2 on the road)
Season Pac-12 non-conference record: 15-7 (12-2 at home, 2-4 on the road, 1-1 neutral)
Record against ranked teams: 1-2 in Week 2, 1-3 on the season
