If there's anything like a can't miss recruit from this year's class, Ellis McCarthy from Monrovia High comes pretty close. The defensive tackle has been an unstoppable beast through his senior year of high school, and he figures to stay on the West Coast for college in the Pac-12.
Whoever ends up with McCarthy could have a dominant interior linemen that'll give offensive lines all sorts of problems. As we come closer to decision day, McCarthy appears to be sticking with his hometown team as the team he wants to play for in college. Kevin Carden of Scout reports on McCarthy's thinking process.
McCarthy was in attendance at Saturday night's electric USC-Oregon matchup, and he might have been swayed to keep the Trojans at the top of the list by the way they manhandled the Oregon offensive line for most of three quarters. USC also has had plenty of historical success in sending defensive linemen to the NFL, so that also has to be appealing to a player like McCarthy.
