BCS Rankings, Week 10: Stanford Helped By USC Win, UCLA Looks To Play Spoiler Against ASU

Neither Los Angeles school really has a chance of denting this year's BCS standings, but they can both do a lot of molding and denting for the rest of the Pac-12.

The USC Trojans might have lost to the Stanford Cardinal, but their loss might have in the long-run helped the Pac-12's hopes of getting their top team into the national title game. The computers are very impressed with USC as a Cardinal opponent, and the victory helped jump Stanford all the way to the fourth position. With matchups against Oregon and Notre Dame forthcoming (plus the Pac-12 South champion), Stanford can probably have a decent shot at controlling their BCS championship destiny.

The UCLA Bruins still have an outside shot at the BCS, but they won't likely be doing anything inside the rankings. They'll have to start upsetting opponents, starting with the Arizona St. Sun Devils next week. A win over 19th ranked ASU could push UCLA  to the lead in the Pac-12 North, and if they win out they'd clinch the Pac-12 South title. It's a tall order, but the Bruins are still alive to go to the Rose Bowl.
