Dillon Baxter Suspended From USC Football

The USC Trojans will no longer have the services of tailback Dillon Baxter this season, and perhaps might not see him return at all. Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Trojans tailback has been suspended to focus on his academics, which is as close to an outright dismissal as you can possibly get from head coach Lane Kiffin.

Baxter was not happy with his playing time, as Marc Tyler, Curtis McNeal and D.J. Morgan all ended up taking the majority of snaps at tailback during the season. I'm guessing will be less than happy with this arrangement. It's probably for the best that Baxter has been let loose, since he'll get a chance to prosper elsewhere if he decides to depart for another program.

Greg Biggins pf ESPN recruiting speculates that the tailback could transfer to another Divison I program, and openly suggests that San Diego State might be a potential landing spot.
