USC Beats Santa Clara, 86-73, To Improve To 2-0

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Maurice Jones poured in 29 points to lead the USC Trojans to an 86-73 victory over the Santa Clara Broncos in a non- league tilt at the Galen Center. Nikola Vucevic added a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds for USC (2-0), while Bryce Jones posted 15 points in the win.

Kevin Foster scored 26 points for Santa Clara (1-1), while Marc Trasolini tallied 15 points, to go along with nine rebounds in the loss. USC went into the break with a 39-34 lead after holding Santa Clara to a lackluster 37.5 percent shooting effort from the field in the first half. The Trojans pulled away in the second stanza, thanks to a blistering 64.0 percent shooting effort.

USC dominated play in the post and walked away with a 46-22 advantage in points scored in the paint. The Trojans next host the Rider Broncs Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Galen Center.
