Pac-12 Tournament 2012, Washington Vs. Oregon State: Are Huskies Now Out Of NCAA Tournament?

Stay connected for news and updates

The Washington Huskies entered the 2012 Pac-12 Tournament as the No. 1 seed, winning the outright regular season title with a 14-4 conference record. Sure, it was a down year for the conference, with no wins against the top 25 all year, and getting shut out of the top 25 in the polls for the last 14 weeks. But winning the conference should still count for something, right?

Maybe not.

The Huskies were bounced from the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals, falling to No. 9 seed Oregon State 86-84. This poses a problem for Washington, as even before their loss on Thursday they weren't getitng much love from the NCAA Tournament prognosticators. Joe Lunardi of ESPN had the Huskies as a No. 11 seed in the East Region, while Chris Dobbertean of SB Nation had Washington as a No. 11 seed in the Midwest.

From earlier: Oregon State 86, Washington 84

Those aren't the types of seeds normally given to Pac-12 winners. Now, with the loss to Oregon State, Washington must sit and watch on Sunday, with their 54 RPI rating, and hope for the best, and hope that the Pac-12 isn't just a one-bid league.
