The California Bears lost Sunday night on the road 70-57 to the Colorado Buffaloes, losing an opportunity to gain the lead in the Pac-12 Conference. The Bears fell a half-game behind the Washington Huskies for the conference lead, and Cal has but one Pac-12 game left, next Sunday night at Stanford.
The Huskies head to Los Angeles, where they essentially have a bye against USC on Thursday before facing the UCLA Bruins on Saturday in what will be an opportunity for Washington to clinch the top seed in the upcoming Pac-12 Conference Basketball Tournament. Kyle Fogg scored 13 of his 20 points in the final six minutes of the game, leading the Arizona Wildcats to a 65-63 win over the UCLA Bruins on Saturday afternoon at the McKale Center in Tucson. Fogg scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds on the day, and helped Arizona come back from a late deficit.
The Bruins (16-13, 9-7 in the Pac-12 Conference) led 53-50 with 4:43 remaining, but Fogg hit a jumper and two free throws on the next two possessions for the Wildcats to give them the lead, and hit a three-pointer with 53 seconds remaining to cap a 13 give Arizona a six-point advantage.
Jerime Andersen led the Bruins with 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting, and also chipped in four rebounds and three assists. Travis Wear added 13 points and seven rebounds while his brother David Wear had eight points and nine for the Bruins, who shot 41.7% on the day.
The Bruins closed the gap to two points in the final minute but Anderson's potential game-tying jumper was missed as time expired.
Jesse Perry added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats (21-9, 12-5), who have won seven of their last eight contests. Arizona has won four straight home games against UCLA.
The Bruins close out their Pac-12 regular season next weekend with a pair of home games against the Washington schools, beginning with Washington St. Cougars on Thursday night at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.
