The Wear twins proved to be too much size for the undersized and undermanned USC Trojans on Wednesday night, as the UCLA Bruins easily dispatched their crosstown rivals with a 64-54 victory at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, a final score that does not reflect the game itself. The loss completed a season sweep of the Trojans by the Bruins, who have beaten USC three consecutive times dating back to last season.
David Wear scored 16 points and had 13 rebounds to lead the Bruins, while brother Travis Wear had a double-double as well with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jerime Anderson added 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists for UCLA (15-11, 8-6), who shot 43.9% from the field on Wednesday. The Bruins outrebounded the Trojans 46-25 and led by as many as 23 points in the second half.
The Trojans (6-21, 1-13) trailed 6-0 to start the game and never led or even tied the Bruins after that. Byron Wesley scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead USC, who shot 39.3% from the field, including just three of 15 from three-point range. Garrett Jackson added 15 points for the Trojans, who have lost five straight games and 17 of their last 19 contests.
USC is off until next week, when they head to Arizona to likely get swept in the desert. The Bruins head to New York to battle St. John's on Saturday morning.

The first half at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on Wednesday night looked awfully similar to the game at Galen Center on January 15 between the UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans. The Bruins again dominated the Trojans in the first half Wednesday night, and took a 31-16 lead at halftime.
David Wear scored six points and grabbed eight rebounds for UCLA, who opened the game with a 6-0 lead and never let USC get close. Travis Wear had six points and six rebounds, and Jerime Anderson scored eight points for the Bruins, who shot 51.9% (14 for 27) from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
Garrett Jackson scored seven points to lead the Trojans, who shot just 24.1% (seven for 29) from the field in the opening half, including missing all seven attempts from three-point range. Byron Wesley had five points and three rebounds for USC, who was outrebounded 24-13 in the first half.
The Bruins have beaten the Trojans two straight times.
