The latest bowl projections have UCLA playing Duke in the Sun Bowl on New Year's Eve.

The latest bowl game projections have the UCLA Bruins playing the Duke Blue Devils in the Sun Bowl on New Year's Eve.

The Sun Bowl would be between the fourth-best team in the Pac-12 and the fourth-best team in the ACC. UCLA currently sits third in the Pac-12 South with a conference record of 2-2. They are sixth overall in the Pac-12 standings.

The Bruins still have a bit of a challenge on their schedule left. They head to Arizona State next week where a win would go a long way in helping their bowl projections. After the Sun Devils, the Bruins get the Arizona Wildcats at home and the Washington State Cougars on the road.

Winning those three games would position the Bruins bowl hopes well going into their final two games, tough home challenges against No. 10 USC Trojans and No. 20 Stanford Cardinal.

The UCLA Bruins and Duke Blue Devils evoke many memories -- but virtually all of those come from men's basketball. The two football squads have played each other only once, way back on Dec. 3, 1960. The Bruins won at home, 27-6.
