UCLA vs. Utah: Bruins will face struggling Utes offense

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The UCLA Bruins can get back on the winning track by taking advantage of hosting a Utah Utes team that is struggling to score the ball.

The UCLA Bruins welcome the Utah Utes to the Rose Bowl Saturday with a prime opportunity to feast on a struggling offense, Bruins Nation writes.

Kyle Whittingham's team ranks 102nd in passing yardage this season, the concussion problems and eventual retirement by quarterback Jordan Wynn not helping its cause. Despite the preseason hype surrounding running back John White IV, the Utes are 112th nationally at 105 rushing yards per game.

White has played in four of Utah's five games, but he's only rolled up 301 yards on the year with no touchdowns. Meanwhile, backup quarterback Jon Hays has yet to eclipse the 200-yard passing mark in any of four games he's played in.

Utah has three capable receivers in DeVonte Christopher, Dres Anderson and Kenneth Scott, but none have more than 163 passing yards this year.

Perhaps the problems all start with an offensive line that is inexperienced and struggling, as Bruins Nation points out. It has given up 12 sacks and 33 tackles for loss during the Utes' 2-3 start to the season.
