Pac-12 Championship Game 2011, UCLA Vs. Oregon: Ducks Have Dominated Series Over Last Decade

The UCLA Bruins have their work cut out for them Friday night in the very first Pac-12 Football Championship Game. The Bruins are in Eugene to battle the Oregon Ducks, and are heavy underdogs to the No. 8 Ducks, who are at home. A UCLA win would not only get them to the Rose Bowl, but would also stop a recent trend of Oregon success in the series.

UCLA leads the all-time series with Oregon 39-25, but in the last decade or so it has been all Ducks. Oregon has won eight of their last 10 matchups with UCLA, dating back to 2000, including four of the last five in Eugene:

  • 2010: at No. 1 Oregon 60, UCLA 13
  • 2009: No. 13 Oregon 24, at UCLA 10
  • 2008: at Oregon 31, UCLA 24
  • 2007: at UCLA 16, No. 9 Oregon 0
  • 2006: at No. 18 Oregon 30, UCLA 20
  • 2004: UCLA 34, at Oregon 26
  • 2003: Oregon 31, at UCLA 13
  • 2002: No. 7 Oregon 31, at UCLA 30
  • 2001: No. 7 Oregon 21, at No. 17 UCLA 20
  • 2000: at No. 6 Oregon 29, UCLA 10

Rick Neuheisel is 4-4 against Oregon, though he has lost all three games against the Ducks while at UCLA. Oregon head coach Chip Kelly is 2-0 against UCLA, winning by a combined score of 84-23.

The inaugural Pac-12 Championship Football Game will be played on Friday, December 2 at 5 p.m. PT on Fox. For more news and information on UCLA football, be sure to read Bruins Nation.
