Maui Invitional Tournament, UCLA Vs. Michigan: Bruins Lose 79-63

Zack Novak scored 22 points to lead the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines over the UCLA Bruins 79-63 Wednesday night in the third place game of the Maui Invitational at Lahaina Civic Center. The Bruins fell to 1-4 on the season, with their only victory coming against Division II Chaminade on Monday in the quarterfinals of this tournament.

Novak made seven of his eight field goal attempts, including four of five from beyond the arc. Tim Hardaway Jr. added 20 for Michigan, who improved to 5-1 on the season.

Travis Wear led the Bruins with 16 points in 24 minutes, and Jerime Andersen added 12. Center Joshua Smith scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds, but was limited to 19 minutes thanks to his four fouls. Smith is averaging eight fouls per 40 minutes so far this season.

The Bruins have Thanksgiving weekend off, but return home to host Pepperdine on Monday at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles.
