UCLA Falls At Home To Montana, 66-57

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Will Cherry scored 18 points and handed out five assists as the Montana Grizzlies topped the UCLA Bruins, 66-57, in non- conference action at Pauley Pavilion. Also having a strong game for the Grizzlies (4-3) was Brian Qvale who recorded a double-double for the visitors with 13 points and 10 rebounds as the squad won for the fourth time in the last five outings.

The Bruins (3-4) were paced by Malcolm Lee who tallied 13 points on just 4- of-12 shooting from the floor, missing all four of his attempts behind the three-point line. Tyler Honeycutt accounted for 11 points and seven rebounds, but he too had problems beyond the arc (2-of-8) and from the field overall (3- of-12) in the team's fourth consecutive loss. Qvale had a strong first half for the visitors as he posted 11 points and six rebounds for Montana, the team moving out to a 32-28 lead at the break on the strength of 44.4 percent shooting from the floor.

The Grizzlies opened up the offense in the second half, converting a sizzling 60.9 percent from the field, compared to a mere 27 percent for the Bruins in the nine-point decision. UCLA finished the night shooting just 31.3 percent from the field and 4-of-18 behind the three-point line, not to mention suffering 16 turnovers in the losing cause. The win for the Grizzlies was the first ever against UCLA in five opportunities.
