UCLA At Oregon: Bruins Trail 22-3 In Early Second Quarter

The UCLA Bruins were unable to stop the Oregon Ducks on any of their first three drives, and trail the Ducks 22-3 early in the second period. The Bruins were able to drive down the field on their third drive, but settled for a 25-yard field goal by Kai Forbath in the second quarter after Oregon opened the game with 15 straight points.

UCLA quarterback Kevin Prince didn't even dress for tonight's game, still battling a right knee injury. Per Jill Painter of the Los Angeles Daily News, via Twitter:

#UCLA quarterback Kevin #Prince will have arthroscopic knee surgery on Saturday since the swelling has not subsided.

UCLA drove the ball 49 yards, into Oregon territory, on their opening possession, but the drive ended when Richard Brehaut threw an interception.

Oregon drove the ball 90 yards in eight plays, culminating in an eight-yard score by running back LaMichael James, the leading rusher in the Pac-10. The Ducks had plays of 21, 24, and 25 yards on their opening drive. James left the field on their next drive, with an apparent injury, but he appears to be okay, as he returned for the next drive.

On the Ducks' second drive, they scored a touchdown after a 10-play, 77-yard drive, then punched in a two-point conversion when backup quarterback Nate Costa ran the ball into the left corner of the end zone. Oregon scored its third touchdown on a 22-yard pass from quarterback Darron Thomas to Josh Huff with 10;37 remaining in the second quarter.

Through their first three drives, the Bruins have 82 yards rushing on 20 carries.
