Cal Gets Third Straight Win Over UCLA, 35-7

Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) - Shane Vereen rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns to lead the California Golden Bears to a 35-7 victory over the UCLA Bruins in Pac-10 play at Memorial Stadium.

Kevin Riley had a quiet afternoon for California (3-2, 1-1 Pac10), as the quarterback finished with just 83 yards and one touchdown on 9-of-16 passing.

Kevin Prince was not as lucky, as UCLA's signal caller threw for just 99 yards in the loss. Prince did toss a touchdown pass, but finished just 13-of-31 on the day and also was intercepted once. The Bruins (3-3, 1-2) were paced by Johnathan Franklin on the ground, as the tailback rushed for 54 yards on 13 totes.

The Golden Bears wasted little time finding the end zone, as the team capped off a 10-play, 70-yard opening drive with a one-yard touchdown plunge by Shane Vereen.

Vereen struck again later in the opening frame when the tailback scampered into the end zone on a four-yard run.

Cal continued its solid play in the second stanza, as the Golden Bears capped off a 13-play, 86-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Riley to Keenan Allen.

Riley made it a 28-0 score when he plunged into the end zone from one yard out with less than two minutes remaining in the opening half.

The Bruins finally got on the scoreboard early in the third quarter when Prince hit Christian Ramirez with a six-yard touchdown pass.

That would be the lone touchdown for UCLA, as Cal pushed its lead back to 28 points midway through the final frame when Marvin Jones broke free for a 48- yard touchdown run.

The Golden Bears dominated the matchup, racking up 387 yards, while limiting UCLA to just 144 total yards of production.
