Wednesday, February 15

7:30 p.m. - USC at UCLA (Prime Ticket): The Bruins look for a season sweep of the Trojans, who have lost 16 of 18 games.

Pac-12 College Basketball Standings 2012: California Bears In First Place After Road Sweep Of UCLA, USC

The California Bears this week did something they hadn't done for 53 seasons, and as a result will end the week in first place in the Pac-12 Conference. Cal (20-6, 10-3) vaulted into the top spot in the conference college basketball standings thanks to coming into Los Angeles and sweeping the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins.

The Bears completed a season sweep of both the Bruins and Trojans, winning all four games against both schools for the first time since th 1958-1959 season. Cal enters play on Sunday a half-game up on the Washington Huskies in the Pac-12.

Here are the Pac-12 standings through games of Saturday, with a pair of games on the docket for Sunday. The USC Trojans host the Stanford Cardinal at Galen Center on Sunday afternoon, preceded by Washington looking to keep pace with Cal with a road battle at Oregon State.

UCLA Vs. Cal Final Score: Justin Cobbs, Bears Snap Bruins Home Winning Streak

The California Bears used a 14-2 second half run to break open a close game, beating the UCLA Bruins 73-63 on Saturday afternoon at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. The loss snapped a 10-game home winning streak by the Bruins, who were swept by Cal for the first time since the 1993-1994 season.

The Bruins were within four points of Cal with 17:26 remaining but Cal went on a 14-2 run over the next four minutes to widen their lead, and led by as many as 17 points in the second half. Justin Cobbs scored 18 points and had five assists to lead Cal in the win. Jorge Gutierrez added 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Jerime Andersen led UCLA with 16 points and three assists. Anderson made six of 10 shots from the field, but the rest of the Bruins made only 17 of 48 field goals (35.4%). Joshua Smith had 10 points and nine rebounds in 29 minutes, and Lazeric Jones had 15 points and five rebounds for the Bruins.

Cal completed a four-game season sweep of UCLA and USC for the first time since the 1958-1959 campaign. The Bruins next host the Trojans on Wednesday night.

UCLA Vs. Cal Game Score: Jorge Gutierrez Leads Bears To 32-26 Halftime Lead

Jorge Gutierrez scored 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting and had five rebounds in the first half, leading the California Golden Bears to a 32-26 halftime lead over the UCLA Bruins on Saturday afternoon at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. The Bruins are in search of their 11th consecutive home victory.

UCLA held an early 13-8 lead over Cal but the Bruins were ice cold in the opening half. The Bruins shot just 34.5% (10 for 29) from the field in the first half, compared to 56% (14 for 25) for Cal. UCLA missed its first six three-point attempts before Jerime Anderson hit a shot from beyond the arc at the halftime buzzer.

Lazeric Jones led the Bruins in scoring with eight points, but like every other Bruin had zero assists in the first half. Joshua Smith added five points and four rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench, and had an outstanding screen to free up Anderson for the three-pointer at the buzzer.
