Dodgers Vs. Padres: L.A. Looks For Another Win Against San Diego

Chris Capuano has allowed six runs in his last six starts.

The Los Angeles Dodgers open a brief two-game series on Wednesday afternoon against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park in downtown San Diego. Chris Capuano takes the hill, looking for his sixth straight win, and looking to continue an amazing run for the left-hander.

Capuano struggled in his first start, right here at Petco Park in San Diego, allowing four runs in the fifth inning and was removed after 4 2/3 innings. But since then the southpaw has been lights out, allowing six total runs over his last six starts. Capuano is 5-0 for the second time in his career, and leads the Dodgers' staff with a 2.06 ERA.

Clayton Richard gets the start for San Diego. He beat the Dodgers with seven strong innings on April 8 in San Diego, but the Padres have lost all six of his starts since then. The left-hander is 0-5 with a 6.32 ERA in those six starts.

NHL Playoffs 2012: Arizona's Shane Doan Avoids Suspension For Trevor Lewis Hit

The Los Angeles Kings are red hot on the ice as of late, but the Phoenix Coyotes got a bit of a break on Wednesday with the news that captain Shane Doan will not be suspended for his hit on Trevor Lewis during game two of their current series.

Per the NHL's Senior VP of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan on Twitter:

Doan told reporters this after the game about the hit on Lewis:

"I mean, he [Lewis] turns, he looks right at me," Doan said. "I didn't even look at him again. I was looking down at the puck because I was trying to poke the puck free. He turns away as I'm coming in.''

The Kings still find themselves in prime position this series, holding the 2-0 advantage early in the set.

Angels Vs. White Sox: Halos Search For A Measure Of Consistency

The Los Angeles Angels will play another short series before hitting the road for interleague play. The Chicago White Sox come to the Big A on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Angels were hoping their return to the Big A would help the team to get its bearings. Instead, they traded shutouts with the Oakland Athletics in a split of a short two-game series and saw their hitting coach Mickey Hatcher relieved of his duties. The Angels will hope their next short series will bring them better luck, as they host the Chicago White Sox before heading out again for some interleague play.

The short two-game series will begin on Wednesday at Angel Stadium.

Preakness 2012: Daddy Nose Best, Bodemeister Look For Redemption

After a thrilling conclusion to the 2012 Kentucky Derby a few weeks ago, another strong field is preparing for The Preakness. 'I'll Have Another' won the first leg of the triple crown and will be looking to win once again this weekend.

Bodemeister finished second in the Kentucky Derby and is being considered the favorite for The Preakness. Daddy Nose Best is another horse running in both events, and many feel he could be a dark horse (pun intended) for the race after a decent showing at the first leg of the triple crown.

Tour of California 2012, Stage 4: Preview Of Stage Shows Climbs That Will Test Peloton

Stage four of the 2012 Amgen Tour of California is 130 miles from Sonora to Clovis, the longest stage of the race. It just may turn out to be the most difficult as well, as riders confront roughly 5000 total feet of climbing over the course of the stage. Race leader Peter Sagan has really imposed his will on the competition so far, but whether he has what it takes for the whole of a long stage race is an unanswered question. He just may find his answer on stage four.

With that many climbs and an equal number of descents, the peloton may be split into pieces and a strong breakaway has a good chance at stealing the stage win. But with the descent into a long, flat finish, any breakaway that wants the stage is going to have to earn it. This stage comes the day before the individual time trial, so many of the GC contenders may decide to take it easy and save their legs for Thursday. That leaves the door open for a young, aggressive rider to take advantage. However it plays out, any stage that long, that much climbing, and featuring six climbs with King of the Mountain points, it will be anything but boring.

Dodgers Vs. Diamondbacks Final Score: Wade Miley Snaps L.A. Winning Streak

Wade Miley pitched into the seventh inning, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Dodgers (24-12), who concluded an eight-game homestand that saw them win six games.

Miley allowed just one run on eight hits, while striking out five, earning his fourth win of the season.

Chad Billingsley allowed one run in his first four innings, but allowed five straight sings to open the fifth inning and was removed. Billingsley allowed four runs on eight hits in his four innings, the second straight four-inning start by Billingsley, who fell to 2-3 on the season.

Mark Ellis homered for the Dodgers' only run, a solo shot in the seventh inning.

The Dodgers head to San Diego next to face the Padres in a brief two-game series beginning Wednesday at Petco Park. Chris Capuano starts the opener for the Dodgers, facing Clayton Richard for San Diego.

Spurs Vs. Clippers, 2012 NBA Playoffs Game 1 Final Score: Tim Duncan Leads San Antonio To 108-92 Win

Tim Duncan had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 108-92. victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1 of their second round NBA playoff series Tuesday night at AT&T Center in San Antonio. Manu Ginobili added 22 points off the bench for the Spurs.

The Spurs lead the best-of-seven series 1-0, and have won their last 15 games. The last loss for San Antonio came on April 11. The Spurs held a 57-49 lead at halftime, then scored the first seven points of the third quarter to take control of the game.

Chris Paul had six points and 10 assists for the Clippers, and Blake Griffin had 15 points and nine rebounds in defeat. But the duo combined to shoot 10-for-30 from the field (33.3%) in defeat

Eric Beldsoe scored a season-high 23 points off the bench for the Clippers, who shot 44.6% from the field in the game. Caron Butler added 15 points for Los Angeles.

Tony Parker had seven points and 11 assists for the Spurs, and Borid Diaw added seven points and 12 rebounds. The Spurs shot 48.8% for the night. They outrebounded the Clippers 47-34, but also committed 18 turnovers.

Game 2 will be held Thursday night in San Antonio.

Coyotes Vs. Kings, NHL Playoffs 2012 Game 2: Jeff Carter Hat Trick Makes Quick Work Of Phoenix, 4-0

Sometimes it's hard to remember that the Los Angeles Kings are the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. Jeff Carter had a hat trick for the Kings, who thoroughly beat the Phoenix Coyotes 4-0 in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals Tuesday night at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Jonathan Quick saved all 24 shots he faced for his second shutout of the playoffs, and his 12th since the beginning of the season, both tops in the NHL.

The Kings dispatched the No. 1 seed Vancouver Canucks in five games in the first round of the NHL playoffs, then swept the No. 2 seed St. Louis Blues in round two, and now the Kings are halfway to eliminating the No. 3 seed Coyotes, as the Kings lead the best-of-seven series 2-0.

The victory gave the Kings a 7-0 road record this year in the playoffs, and was their ninth consecutive road win in the postseason, dating back to last year.

Carter scored twice in the second period, then added a power play goal at 12:56 of the third period to complete the hat trick. The Kings bombarded Mike Smith with 40 shots on the night.

Game 3 will be held Thursday night at Staples Center, starting a wild weekend in Los Angeles featuring six playoff games in four days.
