US PRESSWIRE

Stanford is the early favorite to win the Rose Bowl.

The Stanford Cardinal opened as 6.5-point favorites over the Wisconsin Badgers for their Jan. 1 Rose Bowl meeting. Early money has come in on Stanford's side, as the line has since moved to seven points at all major sites. Stanford enters the game with an 11-2 record, while the Badgers were lucky to make the Big Ten Championship Game with an 8-5 mark.

Wisconsin did not disappoint once reaching the title game against Nebraska, embarrassing the Cornhuskers in a 70-31 rout. The Badgers' record is deceiving, as all of their losses have come by seven points or less and three were in overtime. Wisconsin actually averages a larger margin of victory, edging the Cardinal 11.7 to 11.

Stanford is 8-5 against the spread this season, but has covered in four of their last five contests. The Badgers are 6-7 ATS, having failed to cover in two of their last three.
