2012 Pac-12 Football Standings: UCLA, USC both control own destiny in Pac-12 South

Stephen Dunn

With their rivalry game still yet to be played, the UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans still have the good fortune of controlling their own destiny.

Both the UCLA Bruins and the USC Trojans sit in the driver's seats of their own destinies with the way their schedule plays out in the Pac-12 South.

The Bruins (4-2 in conference) and Trojans (4-3) are currently separated by half a game but they have the luxury (or curse) of playing each other in two weeks with a possible tiebreaker on the line.

UCLA has it pretty easy this week with a road matchup against a Washington State team that hasn't won a conference game all season (0-6) before venturing back home for their rivalry game against USC. As for the Trojans, USC draws an equally desperate Arizona State team that will also be playing for an outside shot at a Pac-12 Championship appearance.

USC could conceivably lose to Arizona State and still have a chance at a three-way tie with UCLA playing a tough Stanford team to close out the year. The Trojans started their conference schedule early so they'll be playing a relatively meaningless game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the final week.

Meaningless, that is, for USC and not the BCS championship-contending Irish.

Below are the full Pac-12 standings:
