Lakers Draft Rumors: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist For Pau Gasol?

The Los Angeles Lakers are shopping Pau Gasol. The Lakers seem committed to Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum, so Gasol is the odd man out in terms of finding suitors for his services.

While it's likely that Los Angeles will try and make a deal for an active player, there's a decent possibility L.A. will try and move up in the draft in exchange for a high pick. Mike Bresnahan has a report that has Los Angeles targeting a potential lottery pick, which could mean a lot of top teams could be taking a look.

It's unclear how strongly Kidd-Gilchrist would complement the Lakers. He's a good perimeter defender and hard worker, which are two attributes that Kobe Bryant and Mike Brown must really like. However, he struggles with his offense, so that could cause problems with the offense on the floor. Still, he'd be quite a suitable backup for Metta World Peace until he develops into his own, although this type of trade would probably leave Los Angeles deficient at the power forward position. The Lakers might need to find a way to get a power forward out of whatever deal they end up making if they do continue the pursuit for MKG.
