Pau Gasol Rumors: Lakers PF Knows There's 'No Guarantee' He Won't Be Traded

Stay connected for news and updates

Los Angeles Lakers executive vice president Jim Buss notedon Wednesday that the team will likely not be making any big trades this offseason, including for big man Pau Gasol. But when Gasol was asked about these remarks, he certainly took them with a grain of salt, knowing that the NBA is, after all, a business.

Gasol told Marca.com that something Buss says in June is far from a guarantee from being traded (translated from spanish).

"I'm happy about what Jim Buss said, but I don't think that's a guarantee [that I won't get traded]".

The Lake Show is trying to fill in their roster with the right pieces, which Buss believes includes Gasol. Buss mentioned that Pau needs more action in the paint, to which Gasol certainly agrees (once more, translated):

"I agree. I would like to play closer to the basket. There I'm more effective, I can play, pass the ball and make the right decisions."

Gasol is seen as a main cog of the Lakers equation, though could easily have a similar if not greater role on another NBA team. Despite what the front office says, Pau could be gome come next season. His pragmatic attitude will certainly do him well during these times of uncertainty.
