The Los Angeles Lakers were without Kobe Bryant on Saturday night, and it showed, as they were blown out 125-105 by the Phoenix Suns at U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix. Former Laker Shannon Brown scored 24 points for the Suns in the victory.
With the loss, the Lakers are now even with the Clippers in the loss column in the race for the Pacific Division, though the Lakers have played one more game and own the tiebreaker between the two teams.
Pau Gasol led the Lakers with 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and Andrew Bynum had 23 points and 18 rebounds, though Bynum missed 17 of his career-high 27 field goals attempts. The Lakers shot 48.5% as a team in the loss.
Michael Redd scored 23 points in 26 minutes off the bench for the Suns.
The Lakers travel next to New Orleans Monday night, the second game of a three-game road trip.
