Kobe Bryant Sits Against Kings, Ensures Kevin Durant Third-Straight Scoring Title

Stay connected for news and updates

There isn't much in Kobe Bryant's career that he can't say 'been there done that,' and at 33 years old, it's probably a good time to rest whenever possible, especially on the last game of the season heading into the playoffs against a team like the Sacramento Kings.

That's why the Black Mamba will be in street clothes when his Los Angeles Lakers take on the Kings this evening, ensuring that the Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant will take home his third straight scoring title.

Per Sam Amick on Twitter:

Already a two-time scoring champion (2006, 2007) Kobe is much more concerned with championship rings than scoring titles, and we all know the healthier Kobe is, the better the Lakers chances. He'll gladly give this secondary accomplishment to KD if he can hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy come June.

The Lakers will play either the Denver Nuggets or Dallas Mavericks starting Sunday in the first round of the second season.
