Lakers Vs. Nuggets: Game Time, TV Info And More

The Los Angeles Lakers look for their third straight victory on Friday night as they return home to host the Denver Nuggets at Staples Center. Kobe Bryant will miss his fourth straight game with a left shin injury, and is doubtful for Sunday's game as well. Here are the relevant details of Friday night's NBA Western Conference battle:

Records: Lakers (37-22, third in West); Nuggets (32-26, tied for seventh in West)

Location: Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles

Time: 7:30 p.m. PDT

Home vs. Road: The Lakers are 23-6 at home this season, though they are just 4-4 in their last eight home contests. The Nuggets are 14-14 on the road this season.

Series History: The Lakers have beaten the Nuggets in two of three games this season, including a 92-89 triumph on December 31 at Staples Center. The Lakers are 19-4 all-time against the Nuggets at Staples Center.

Playoff Positioning: The Lakers hold a one-game lead over the Clippers with seven games remaining, plus the Lakers have the tiebreaker over their crosstown rivals for what will likely be the third seed. The Nuggets are tied with Houston for seventh in the Western Conference, a half-game behind Dallas for sixth and a game and a half ahead of ninth-place Utah.

Lakers Vs. Nuggets: Kobe Bryant Out Again With Shin Injury

The Los Angeles Lakers return home Friday night to host the Denver Nuggets, but they will have to try to win their third straight game without Kobe Bryant. The superstar guard will miss his fourth straight game with a shin injury, technically left shin tenosynovitis.

The Lakers say Bryant's status for Sunday's home showdown with the Dallas Mavericks is uncertain.

Not that the Lakers won't miss Bryant in Friday's game against the Nuggets, but Kobe has had some bad shooting nights against Denver this season. Bryant made six of 18 shots in the Lakers' December 31 win over the Nuggets, and that 33.3% shooting mark is his best of his three games against Denver this season. In three games against Denver this season, Bryant has made 19 of 69 field goals (27.5%).

Bryant will now have missed 99 games in his 16-year career.

Andrew Bynum, who grabbed a career high 30 rebounds in Wednesday's win in San Antonio, has averaged 23.0 points and 13.0 rebounds against the Nuggets this season, while making 69.8% of his field goals.

Lakers Schedule 2012: Dallas Mavericks Showdown Sunday On ABC

The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off perhaps their biggest victory of the season with their road triumph against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, thanks in part to 30 rebounds from Andrew Bynum in the win. Now, with Kobe Bryant closer to returning after missing three games with a shin injury, the Lakers return home to Staples Center for a three-game homestand against likely playoff teams. Here is the Lakers' weekend schedule:

Friday - Denver Nuggets at Lakers (7:30 p.m., Fox Sports West): The Lakers are 19-4 all-time at Staples Center against the Nuggets, including 7-3 in their last 10 matchups in Los Angeles. This season, the Lakers have won two of the three matchups, including one home win and one win in Denver.

Saturday - Dallas Mavericks at Lakers (12:30 p.m., ABC): While the payback is no way comparable, the Lakers get a chance at a small measure of revenge against Dallas, the team that swept them out of the NBA playoffs last season. This season, the Lakers are 3-0 against the defending champion Mavericks, including two wins in Dallas.
