Andrew Bynum To Have Routine Injection In Knee, Will Be Fine For All-Star Game

Usually the words 'routine' and 'injection' don't belong in the same sentence, but when it comes to the health of Los Angeles Lakers big man Andrew Bynum, doing whatever it takes to keep him on the floor should be routine.

That's why Bynum will meet Dr. David Altchek in Port St. Lucie, FL to receive a Synvisc injection on his right knee as part of ongoing treatment to maintain his knee's health. The injection is intended to serve as extra lubricant for the knee, providing Andrew with some added relief.

Bynum will not participate in Saturday's Western Conference practice run by Thunder coach Scott Brooks, but he is expected to take part in Sunday's All Star game, something he's been waiting a long time to be a part of.

Bynum came into the season the healthiest he's been since joining the league, averaging 16.3 points and 12.7 rebounds in 34.6 minutes, all new career highs for him.
