Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Lakers have been playing much better of late, but still have ground to make up in the West.

The Los Angeles Lakers will host the Portland Trail Blazers at the Staples Center on Friday night.

Los Angeles is having a resurgence recently with Pau Gasol and Steve Nash back in the lineup, and are starting to look like a real NBA team. Of course, there will be bumps in the road, such as the ugly loss a few nights ago to the Denver Nuggets.

Kobe Bryant is still playing at an insanely high level, leading the league in scoring with 30.0 points per game. Bryant has been the one constant this season, leading the Lakers through tough times.

Portland (15-14) has been inconsistent but is certainly a dangerous team with the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge and rookie sensation Damian Lillard.

Aldridge is one of the premier big men in the league and leads the Blazers with 21.1 points per game. Lillard, the small point guard out of Weber State, is dishing out over six assists per game and scoring more than 18.
