The Los Angeles Lakers finally got into the win column on a night where there were no close games anywhere in the NBA.
The Lakers were led by Dwight Howard's 28 points, seven rebounds and three blocks and Kobe Bryant's 15 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. The Lakers led by 21 points after the first quarter and were on cruise control the rest of the way.
Elsewhere in the Association, the New York Knicks knocked off the Philadelphia 76ers, 100-84, for their second straight win. The Knicks were led by Carmelo Anthony's 27 points while Jrue Holiday put up 27 points as well for the Sixers, who are now 1-1.
The Toronto Raptors beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, 105-86, for their first win of the season. The Raptors were led by Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan who both scored 22 points. Andrei Kirilenko led the Wolves with 17 points in defeat.
The Orlando Magic put up 40 points in the third quarter on their way to a 115-94 win over the Phoenix Suns for their second consecutive victory. J.J. Redick scored 24 points to lead the Magic while the Suns were led by Luis Scola's 24 points.
The Atlanta Hawks used a fourth-quarter surge to knock off the Oklahoma City Thunder, 104-95, for their first win of the year. The loss dropped the Thunder to 1-2. The Hawks' Al Horford put up 23 points with 12 rebounds and the Thunder were led by newcomer Kevin Martin's 28 points.
