Kobe Bryant Closing In On Two More Lakers Records

Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers hit the road Saturday night to face the Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center, and it figures to be a big weekend for franchise milestones for the Lakers shooting guard. With a big game Saturday in Milwaukee, Bryant could be atop the Lakers record book for both field goals made and free throws made.

Kobe has made 9,922 field goals in his career, 13 behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most in Lakers history. Bryant has made 13 or more field goals in eight of his last 13 games, and has averaged 11 field goals made per game this season.

Bryant has made 7,157 free throws, which is three behind Jerry West for the franchise lead. Bryant has made at least four free throws in 16 of 19 games this season, and has averaged 6.9 free throws per game.

Kobe already holds Lakers franchise records for seasons played (16), points (28,441), games (1,122), minutes (40,871), field goal attempts (21,833), three-point field goals made (1,440) and attempted (4,267), and is second in steals (1,676), 48 behind Magic Johnson.

At some point during the Lakers' Grammy road trip, Bryant will likely pass Shaquille O'Neal for fifth place on the NBA all-time scoring list. Bryant currently has 28,441 points in his career, 155 points behind O'Neal. Bryant leads the NBA in scoring this season at 30.2 points per game.

Saturday night's 5:30 p.m. PST contest will be televised by KCAL. For more news and information on Lakers basketball, be sure to read Silver Screen and Roll.
