According to the Los Angeles Times talks between the Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando Magic ti make a trade for All-Star big man Dwight Howard remains on the ‘back burner,’ as discusses between the two teams haven’t occured ‘for a while now.’
These two have had talks for a while now, potentially for a Andrew Bynum/Dwight Howard swap. Howard, 26, is a free agent at the end of the season if he opts out for the end of his current contract.
Kobe Bryant reportedly has had a recent phone call with Howard, which one person with knowledge of the situation said Bryant let him know it i still his team, and dwight would be the second-option in LA.
As for Bynum, the rumor mill is nothing knew for him, and when asked if these discussions bother him, the 24 year old was very candid:
"It did in the very beginning," Bynum said in a quiet moment after the team’s Thursday morning shoot-around. "I don’t really care anymore. I’ll play anywhere. I don’t care. I just want to go out and play well. That’s the one thing I really want."
The trade deadline is March 15.
