The Los Angeles Lakers might be poised to make some big offseason splashes if the trade rumors go the right way. But they'll probably make some smaller moves.
Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times reported that the Lakers and Kapono were looking at a two year deal, although it looks as if Wojnarowski is reporting one year for the veteran's minimum.
Last year in the playoffs, the Lakers proved they had great inside presence. However, the outside shooting was horrendous and pretty much cost them any shot at winning their third straight championship. Kapono does provide a player who can stretch the floor and complement the Laker bigs when they're double-teamed; he is one of the league's most efficient three point shooters when given the open look. He is a defensive liability, but so is almost every Laker guard not named Kobe Bryant over the past decade, and it hasn't really stopped them from succeeding. It's a low-risk move with decent rewards likely.
