The Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday officially signed forward Troy Murphy, who is expected to provide frontcourt depth off the bench. The 10-year veteran averaged 3.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 35 games for both the Boston Celtics and New Jersey Nets last season.
Murphy signed for the veteran's minimum salary of $1,352,181. He has averaged 11.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in his career. In addition, like Josh McRoberts, Murphy gives the Lakers a big man who can shoot outside. Murphy has made 38.9% of his three-point attempts in his career.
