AEG is getting set to sell two of the most profitable sports properties in the Los Angeles region. Walter Hamilton of the Los Angeles Times files this report that has both Staples Center and the Los Angeles Kings going up for sale. The Anschutz Company is seeking buyers for AEG.
AEG also has plenty of stakes in other valuable Los Angeles institutions, like the Galaxy (the Los Angeles Major League Soccer squad), the Kings (the NHL team) and the dowtown Los Angeles L.A. Live venue.
It'd be the second big Los Angeles sports sale this year, with the Los Angeles Dodgers ending up in the hands of Guggenheim Baseball Management for $2.15 billion.
AEG isn't leaving the Los Angeles sports business though; they are very interested in an NFL team and building a modern NFL stadium next to the Staples Center to help attract an NFL team to relocate.
It remains to be seen if any buyers are emerging in the process.
