The celebration will have to wait. Two third period goals kept the New Jersey Devils alive, and an empty net goal sealed the deal as the Devils beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final Wednesday night at Staples Center, prolonging the Kings' quest for the Cup.
The Kings lead the best-of-seven series three games to one. They have lost only three games this postseason, with the only three losses coming in Game 4.
Patrik Elias scored at 7:56 of the third period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead, but the Kings quickly answered 62 seconds later with a Drew Doughty goal. That set the stage for Adam Henrique, who beat Jonathan Quick with 4:31 left what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Game 5 will be Saturday night in New Jersey. The Kings are 10-0 on the road this postseason. The good news for Kings fans: every game from here on out will be shown on NBC.
