Coyotes Vs. Kings, NHL Playoffs 2012 Game 2: Jeff Carter Gives L.A. 3-0 Lead, Shane Doan Ejected

Jeff Carter scored two goals in the second period, giving the Los Angeles Kings a 3-0 lead over the Phoenix Coyotes after the second period of Game 2 of the NHL Western Conference Finals at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

The Kings lead the best-of-seven series 1-0 and are 20 minutes away from a commanding 2-0 lead and their ninth consecutive road playoff victory, dating back to last season.

Carter lit the lamp at 4:47 of the second period, assisted by Dustin Penner and Mike Richards. Carter's goal was one of 17 shots during the second period for the Kings, compared to eight for Phoenix.

Things got a little chippy in Glendale, as Coyotes captain Shane Doan was given a five-minute game misconduct and ejected for boarding at 16:29 of the second period. Carter capitalized with a power play goal with 1:11 remaining in the period, though the goal was originally credited to Anze Kopitar.

Kings goalie Jonathan Quick saved eight shots during the second period and has saved all 16 shots he has faced for the game so far. Mike Smith has saved 29 of 32 shots for Phoenix on the night.
