NHL Playoffs, Kings Vs. Canucks Game 5: Jarret Stoll OT Goal Wins Series For L.A., 2-1

Jarret Stoll scored at 4:21 of sudden death overtime Sunday night, giving the Los Angeles Kings a 2-1 overtime victory over the Vancouver Canucks in Game 5 of their first round NHL playoff series. The win gave the No. 8 seed Kings their first playoff series win since 2001, as they eliminated the No. 1 seed Canucks four games to one.

The Kings will advance to play the No. 2 seed St. Louis Blues in the second round, with dates and times still to be determined.

Henrik Sedin gave the Canucks a 1-0 lead in the first period on a nifty power-play goal, a give-and-go with brother Daniel Sedin. Brad Richardson tied the game for the Kings in the third period with his first goal of the series, setting the stage for Stoll's heroics.

The Kings outshot the Canucks 6-2 in the extra period, including the final shot, by Stoll, to beat Cory Schneider.

Jonathan Quick saved 26 of 27 shots in the win. Schneider, who kept the Canucks alive with stellar play in Game 4, saved 35 of 37 shots in the loss for Vancouver.
