Kings Vs. Maple Leafs: Dustin Brown Goal Gives L.A. 3-2 Shootout Win

Dustin Brown's shootout goal allowed the Los Angeles Kings to end their four-game road trip, and the brief interim coaching stint of John Stevens, on a high note Monday night with a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre. The Kings were 2-2 on their brief road trip, and are expected to officially name Darryl Sutter head coach on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Jonathan Quick saved 31 of 33 shots in the game, as well as all three shots in the shootout, from Phil Kessel, Matt Frattin, and Joffrey Lupul. For the Kings in the shootout, Jarret Stoll shot the puck over the net and Anze Kopitar's shot was saved by James Reimer, before Brown hit the back of the net for the game-winner.

Justin Williams opened the scoring nearly eight minutes into the game with his fifth goal of the season, assisted by Drew Doughty and Rob Scuderi. However, the Maple Leafs answered three minutes later on a goal by John-Michael Liles.

Brown, who was one of the most vocally frustrated Kings after their 8-2 loss Saturday in Detroit, scored on a power play goal at 14:58 of the second period to give the Kings the lead. The Kings outshot the Maple Leafs 16-4 in the second period and 42-33 for the game. Frattin scored the equalizer for Toronto at 2:56 of the final period.

The Kings return home to face the Anaheim Ducks at Staples Center on Thursday night.
