The Los Angeles Kings have their long-awaited home opener Thursday night, hosting the St. Louis Blues at Staples Center. The Kings, who opened their season with games in Sweden and Germany, are the last NHL team yet to play a true home game. They are 2-1-1 in their first four contests, including a win in Philadelphia on Saturday against the Flyers.
The win on Saturday was not only the second win of the year for the Kings, but also their second overtime win. Jack Johnson has scored the game-winning tally in both overtime victories. The Kings have gone to overtime in three of their first four games.
The Kings have lost eight straight games to the Blues, dating back to December 2009.
Drew Doughty will miss Tuesday's contest, as he is out about a week with an upper body injury after getting hit in the chest in Saturday's win in Philadelphia. Other scratches for the Kings on Tuesday are Kevin Westgarth, Davis Drewiskie, and Scott Parse.
St. Louis concludes its four-game road trip with Tuesday's game. They lost in Anaheim 4-2 to the Ducks on Monday night.
Tuesday's 7:30 p.m. PDT contest will be televised by Fox Sports West. For more Kings news and notes, such as a detailed look at the team's cap situation and reserve list, be sure to read Jewels From the Crown.
