Dodgers Vs. Giants Game Recap: L.A. Newcomers Lead Team To 3-2 Victory
After dropping the series opener, the Los Angeles Dodgers were able to snap their three-game losing streak Saturday afternoon and beat the NL West division leading San Francisco Giants by the score of 3-2 in a come-from-behind victory.
For much of the game, it was a pitching battled between Chris Capuano and Matt Cain. Each starting pitcher allowed two runs in seven innings of work, but it was the late game heroics from the Dodgers that allowed the team to take a much needed victory.
In the top of the 9th inning, newcomer Adrian Gonzalez drilled a first-pitch curveball off of left-handed reliever Jeremy Affeldt that gave the first baseman a three-bagger. Giants manager Bruce Bochy left Affeldt in to face Hanley Ramirez, who then hit a scorching line drive into the gap for a double.
The run proved to be all the Dodgers would need Saturday, as Don Mattingly then handed the ball to closer Brandon League for the save. The Dodgers are now 4.5 games back of the Giants and will play the rubber match of their three-game series tomorrow.
