Dodgers, Red Sox Trade: Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford Must Approve Blockbuster Deal

Stay connected for news and updates

The Dodgers and Red Sox are nearing a blockbuster deal that would include Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, James Loney and top-prospect Allen Webster. Reports from all over the industry are suggesting the trade is close, but there are still hurdles to get through.

Beckett, who has 10-and-5 rights (10 years in the league, five of which with the same team) has a no-trade clause. He would have to approve the deal in order to head to L.A. There is always a chance he throws a curveball (pun intended) into the negotiations, although most believe he would approve the Dodgers deal.

Carl Crawford also has a limited no-trade clause built into his contract. It is believed the Dodgers are one of the teams included, but it also seems likely that he would OK the move.
