Dodgers, Red Sox Trade: Top Prospect Allen Webster Heading To Boston

Stay connected for news and updates

The Dodgers and Red Sox are nearing completion on a blockbuster trade that would send Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto to L.A. in exchange for James Loney, Jerry Sands, Ivan De Jesus, Rubby De La Rosa and a prospect.

The identity of the prospect was unknown until just recently when reports indicated Allen Webster will also be headed to Boston in the deal.

Webster, 22, is a right-handed pitcher and has emerged as one of the best players in the Dodgers' farm system. He began the season as the No. 95 overall prospect in the game and is having a fine season in Double-A ball, going 6-8 with a 3.55 ERA, 117 strikeouts and 57 walks over the course of 121.2 innings.

Here is the news confirming that Webster will be included in the trade.

What is already one of the bigger trades of the last decade just got that much bigger.
