Dodgers Vs. Diamondbacks Final Score: Home Runs Again Fuel Arizona In 8-2 Win

Stay connected for news and updates

For the second straight night at Dodger Stadium, a pair of home runs gave the Arizona Diamondbacks a win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 8-2 win by Arizona brought them to within two and a half games of the Dodgers in the National League West.

Paul Goldschmidt homered in the first inning for the second time in as many night in this series. Luckily for the Dodgers, his home run was only a two-run shot on Tuesday instead of the three-run blast he hit on Monday. Goldschmidt's 15th home run of the season gave the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead.

The Dodgers answered in the bottom of the inning when Mark Ellis homered to left field, his fourth of the season, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

But Miguel Montero answered with a two-out, three-run home run of Chris Capuano in the sixth inning to give the Diamondbacks a 5-1 advantage.

Capuano (10-7) allowed five runs in six innings, suffering his fourth loss in his last five starts.

Wade Miley (12-6) allowed one run in eight innings, picking up the win for Arizona.

Rookie pitcher Stephen Fife makes his third major league start on Wednesday afternoon as the Dodgers try to avoid a sweep at home, while fellow rookie Patrick Corbin gets the call for the Diamondbacks.
