Stay connected for news and updates

Luis Cruz doubled home James Loney in the seventh inning, then technically stole home, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.

Brandon Phillips doubled to center field in the fifth inning to score Cueto and give the Reds a 1-0 lead. That was the only run allowed by Chris Capuano, who struck out six in his six innings of work. Capuano walked three and allowed six hits in his fourth consecutive quality start.

The Dodgers tied the game in the sixth inning on a pair of singles. Elian Herrera, pinch hitting for Capuano, led off the inning with a single and eventually scored two outs later on Bobby Abreu's single to center field.

Johnny Cueto allowed three runs in seven innings and took the loss for Cincinnati.

Former Reds hurler Aaron Harang starts the series finale for the Dodgers on Wednesday night, facing Mike Leake for Cincinnati.
