Dodgers Vs. Giants Game Preview: Nathan Eovaldi Vs. Barry Zito

The Los Angeles Dodgers have had trouble scoring runs of late but that's nothing new for Nathan Eovaldi, who starts the opener of a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants on Monday night at AT&T Park. The Dodgers have lost five of their six games on their current road trip, which concludes with three games against their division rivals.

The Dodgers had two runs and eight hits, total, in three games in Oakland, which made their 11 runs and .303 on-base percentage in three games in Anaheim a relative offensive explosion. But the offensive woes run deeper than that, as the Dodgers are hitting just .231/.306/.310 in their last 23 games, averaging just 3.61 runs per game during Matt Kemp's current stint on the disabled list.

But Eovaldi is used to low run support, as he is 0-3 in five starts despite a 2.35 ERA. The Dodgers have lost all five of his starts, thanks in part to scoring just three runs with Eovaldi in the game.

Barry Zito gets the start for the Giants, looking to rebound from allowing 17 runs in 14 1/3 innings in his last three starts, with eight walks and just six strikeouts during that span, and five home runs allowed.

This is just the second meeting of the year between these two teams, as the Dodgers took two of three games at Dodger Stadium in May, including a win over Zito on May 7.
