Dodgers Vs. Athletics Final Score: Brandon McCarthy Shuts Down L.A., 3-0

Brandon McCarthy held the Los Angeles Dodgers in check on Tuesday night to the tune of seven scoreless innings, leading the Oakland Athletics to a 3-0 win in the opener of a three-game series at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.

The Dodgers managed to get just two runners to second base on the night.

The A's scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning off Aaron Harang, who needed 40 pitches to get out of the first frame. It was part of a pattern all night for Harang, who walked a career-high eight in his 3 2/3 innings. Harang allowed three hits in the first inning but none after that, as the A's stranded 12 baserunners on the night.

Ryan Cook allowed two runners to reach base in the ninth inning but got James Loney to ground into a double play to end the threat, and the game. It was the fourth save of the season for Cook.

The Dodgers send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound on Wednesday night in the middle game of the series, facing Tom Milone.
