Dodgers Vs. Cubs: Matt Kemp Scratched With Tight Left Hamstring

Stay connected for news and updates

The Los Angeles Dodgers look for a series win against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Sunday, but will have to do so without Matt Kemp, who was a late scratch from the lineup with tightness in his left hamstring. The Dodgers say Kemp suffered the injury on Saturday and removing him from the lineup on Sunday was a precautionary move, per Jim Peltz of the Los Angeles Times.

Kemp has the longest active streak in MLB with 392 consecutive games played, including starting 123 games in a row. Kemp is still available to pinch hit, meaning he could keep his streak alive with a late-game appearance. Kemp has been all-world this season, hitting .392/.474/.825 and leads the major leagues with 12 home runs.

Tony Gwynn Jr. will play center field in place of Kemp on Sunday, batting eighth. Here is the revised Dodgers lineup:

Gordon SS
Ellis 2B
Ethier RF
Rivera LF
Hairston 3B
Loney 1B
Ellis C
Gwynn CF
Harang P
