Dodgers Recall Nathan Eovaldi From Double A For Tuesday Start

Stay connected for news and updates

The Los Angeles Dodgers made official on Tuesday what most have known since at least Sunday, that Nathan Eovaldi would start tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers in place of the injured Ted Lilly. The Dodgers officially recalled the 22-year old Eovaldi from Double A Chattanooga on Tuesday, taking the roster spot created when pitcher Michael Antonini was optioned back to Triple A after a one-day stint with the Dodgers.

Eovaldi, who was 1-2 with a 3.63 ERA in 10 games, including six starts for the Dodgers last season, was 2-2 with a 3.09 ERA in Double A this season. He had his scheduled start on Saturday changed to a one-inning relief appearance, in which he struck out all three batters he faced.

Lilly was placed on the disabled list on Monday with left shoulder inflammation. It is unknown just how much time he will miss.

Eovaldi was called up earlier this season for three days, as an extra reliever from April 27-29, but he did not pitch in any of those games.
