Dodgers' Jerry Hairston Jr. Returns From Disabled List

The Los Angeles Dodgers have done remarkably well in May despite losing five different position players to the disabled list. But on Friday night the Dodgers got one of them back, as Jerry Hairston Jr. was activated from the disabled list.

To clear room on the roster, SS Justin Sellers will head to the DL with a lower back injury.

Hairston strained his left hamstring on Sunday, May 6 at Wrigley Field in Chicago while running to first base on a single. He was removed from that game, then missed the next three games while the Dodgers decided how long Hairston would miss. By Friday, May 11 Hairston was placed on the DL after an MRI confirmed a left hamstring strain.

Hairston hit .315/.403/.463 for the Dodgers in 19 games this season, starting eight games at third base, five games in left field, and two more at second base. He missed 16 games, but the Dodgers went 12-4 during that span. Hairston went 0-6 in a pair of rehab games on Wednesday and Thursday in Triple A Albuquerque, playing left field, third base, and second base.

Hairston could soon be joined in Los Angeles by Matt Kemp and Juan Rivera, both currently on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain, the same injury that sidelined Hairston. Kemp and Rivera will play two rehab games with Triple A Albuquerque on Sunday and Monday, and could both be activated by Tuesday.

Friday's 7:10 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Prime Ticket. For more news and information on the Dodgers, be sure to read True Blue LA.
