The Los Angeles Dodgers got huge games from Chad Billingsley and Andre Ethier Friday night and were able to dispatch the San Diego Padres 6-0 at Petco Park for their second straight win to open the season. Billingsley struck out 11 Padres in his 8 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win.

"I was just getting ahead with my fastball and was able to mix in all my offspeed pitches," Billingsley said. "It was one of those days when everything felt good, good tempo, good rhythm out there."

Ethier drove in four runs, with a two-run double in the first inning and a two-run triple in the fifth inning. Both hits were off left-hander Cory Luebke, who suffered the loss for San Diego.

"We talked about our starting pitching setting the tone, and Bills obviously right out of the gate was really good. Andre gets us going with two in the first off the lefty. Both of those guys really set the tone for us," manager Don Mattingly said after the game.

The Dodgers go for their third straight win on Saturday, with Chris Capuano facing Dustin Moseley.
