Dodgers Vs. Padres: Rain Threatens Series Opener Against San Diego

The grounds crew at Dodger Stadium put the tarp on the infield Thursday night just in anticipation of Friday's rain in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers won three of four games against the Padres in San Diego to open the season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to continue their hot start Friday night as they open a three-game series against the San Diego Padres at Dodger Stadium. Friday's opener features a rematch of Sunday at Petco Park, an 8-4 win by San Diego in what is the only loss for the Dodgers through seven games this season.

Aaron Harang gets the start for the Dodgers, looking to last longer than the 4 1/3 innings he pitched on Sunday. Harang allowed four runs and 13 baserunners in the loss, and admitted to some anxiety in facing his former team.

"I felt like I was pitching tense out there," Harang said Sunday. "When you do that, you're going to scuffle, and miss location, up and down in the zone. One thing led to another, and I just had to battle through it."

Clayton Richard allowed just two unearned runs in seven innings for the win, and gets the start Friday for San Diego. That is, if the game gets in.

It has been raining on and off for most of Friday, and there is a 50-70% chance of rain between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. at Dodger Stadium. In their 50-year history at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers have had only 17 games rained out, and the last one was April 17, 2000 against the Houston Astros. The Dodgers have gone a club-record 972 games without a rainout.

Friday night's 7:10 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Prime Ticket. For more news and notes on Dodgers baseball, be sure to read True Blue LA.
